In the 1990s, Sompop Promporchenboon was trained as a social reformist in the left-wing school of thought. He served as the first manager of the Ban Mankong Program, which was undertaken by the Community Organization Development Institute, and established the Nationwide Urban Low-Income Community Organization (NULICO). He specializes in social mobilization and community politics in Thailand and the CLMV countries.

Central to people's engagement, his work prominently highlights the creation of social movement platforms and networks nationwide, based on human capital development and capability building. He currently serves as a steering committee member in several public affairs, such as the Parliamentary Committee on Social Welfare and Development, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, and the BMA Housing Development Board.

As a social strategist, his work has flourished into multi-dimensional platforms connecting cities and community networks at both municipal and provincial levels. Despite his extensive contributions to social development, his utmost passion is his Durian Orchard.
